Candles

February 28th, 2011 · No Comments · crafty, fun with kids

Here are some pictures from daddy daycare day a few weeks ago. We bought some beeswax sheets and made candles. The kiddos enjoyed pretending it was their birthdays and blowing out the candles. And a very grateful shout out to Pioneer Woman for explaining why my photos look bad on the web. Thanks to her [...]

February 12th, 2011 · 3 Comments · crafty

As promised, here is the tutorial for making the paper dragon from the last post. I made this one morning with V and loved the way it turned out. The idea originally came from Martha Stewart, but I also looked at the ones sold in Chinatown and made my own version and template (below). You [...]

Doll lust

August 18th, 2010 · No Comments · crafty, parenting

This is Luna. When V was tiny, I really wanted her to have a doll that would be her lovey. Not just any doll, but a soft bodied, natural fiber doll with a sweet Mona Lisa expression.  In a perfect world, I would splurge on a waldorf-like doll such as these, but the prices were [...]

Paper crowns

August 11th, 2010 · No Comments · crafty, fun with kids

Last Thursday, I had the day off when Tig was babysitting. It was raining so we found a fun little toddler activity in the book Great Explorations. The kids drew on some long strips of paper with crayons and colored pencils. The book called for collage materials, but we kept it simple because of their [...]
